Fujiya & Miyagi are an English band formed in Brighton in 2000. They are currently signed to Tirk Records in the United Kingdom. They are self-described as being heavily influenced by 70’s Krautrock bands such as Can and Neu! as well as early-90’s electronica bands like Aphex Twin. The origins of the band’s name come from a character in the movie The Karate Kid as well as the brand of a record player.
rehabdesign™ were recently commissioned by NIACE (National Institute of Adult Continuing Education) to design and print a 32 page ‘motivational’ magazine. The publication aims to highlight the benefits and opportunities available in learning and to publicise Adult Learning Week, the largest celebration of learning in the UK, and one of the country’s largest ‘not for profit’ campaigns. The purpose of the campaign is to celebrate the achievements of adult learners and in doing so, motivate others to get involved.
New Horizons, is primarily a promotional tool to deliver key campaign messages to the target audience of ‘potential’ adult learners. Presented as a glossy easy-to-read bite-sized magazine, it acts as a call to action for the campaign helpline (learndirect), contains information and advice on learning opportunities, includes tips for gaining employment and training, and highlights success stories; all used at motivational triggers for the reader. It is distributed throughout England via relevant providers and public-facing bodies.
Brighton’s horizon has been changed for the festival… the Udderbelly has arrived! A bizzare new venue that hosts many acts over the next month is yes, in the form of an upside down inflatable cow.
“In a director’s cinematic bag of tricks the long tracking shot is the boldest way of making a statement. It’s the flashiest and most attention-grabbing egotistical way of flexing one’s muscle. In most cases it’s a narcissistic maneuver, “look-at-me” filming technique, but rare ones, the best ones, serve to reflect and further the story in a way that can’t be reflected with traditional editing.”
Lots of great example clips from movies including Orson Welles’ Touch of Evil, Martin Scorsese’s Goodfellas, Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights, Scorsese’s Raging Bull, Chan Wook Park’s Oldboy, Robert Altman’s The Player, Alfonso Cuaron’s Children of Men and John Woo’s Hard Boiled.
